Continual Crime
Reconstruction of a building in a small village in the Šumava foothills is one of the projects of Artist in Cottage (AiC), which Sráč Sam has been developing since 1986 within the vision for a new culture and its place. It concerns the movement of a person between places of remarkably simple conditions. The lifetime of existing buildings is optimally lengthened, intentionally avoiding unnecessary building in new areas. Reduce consumption to the most essential expenses possible while preserving the standards of modern living, and ensure efficient utilization of the building. In this project cottage in the Šumava foothills Sráč Sam discusses continual crime. The project contains procedures for coming to terms with estates including accepting disputed inheritance bequests, such as hillsides of rhododendrons at the forest. With the acceptance of the handyman's canon, the resulting state of the building becomes the temporal and cultural bearer of continuity. The side views of the building also metaphorically mirror crime as they are in the shape of an axe.Text: d.b.
